Stop complaining about it; redesign it →I honestly don't know if this is something unique to our industry, or simply a generational truth — but designers complain a lot. Over the course of my career, I have heard people complain about their bosses, the lack of vision of their company's leadership, the lack of process, their co-workers, tools, slow computers, and even the types of snacks (provided for free) by the company they work for. Maybe it's because designers have been trained to spot things that are not working. Still, it strikes me as really odd. The microcopyist: cancellation, confirmation, conflagration →One of the marvelous things about UX writing is that you'll inevitably write yourself into some torturous and impossible-to-fathom linguistic corners. One day, your mind boggles over whether to hyphenate or not hyphenate a lesser-known phrase. The next, you forget what sanity feels like when someone asks you to write microcopy for unknown errors. All the while, you'll have to justify your decisions to the voice, tone, and data deities. But never forget, young writer: You did this to yourself. –By Jason Fox. How do you design a design doc? →The word "documentation" isn't sexy, but documentation is a key part of the design process for many teams. By John Saito. ROI of design thinking →Design Thinking has been embraced by product teams, pre sales groups, HR teams — but is it making an impact in companies? By Mariano Suarez-Battan. A year ago…The magic of microcopy →When I think about the products I love, they all have one thing in common: delightful little details. These details show that a lot of love is put into what is being made. It's just a little detail, a little shape, but it shapes how I feel about the product. https://medium.com/media/05d5fd32eda31cbd1b83287606744532/href Like the links? Clap below πππ |
